Fluffy, Messy Flower T-Shirt Tutorial

Here's a mini-tutorial

that is super cute,

very cheap, and

ultra easy!

First, get a girls' T-Shirt on sale

from any store of your choice.

Mine was $3 from Target:)

Next, get some old tank tops
or t-shirts.
Mine were ribbed,
but you can use regular t-shirt material too.

Next, cut out 3 circles
in large, medium, and small.
You do not have to cut exact or measure.
The messier, the better
(in my opinion).
Place small on top of medium
on top of large.
Then, pinch the back of the circles and
pin to T-shirt.
I actually got a T that had a graphic on it,
but blank could have worked too.
Pin all the circles close together.
Sew a straight line up about half an inch.
This will keep the circles in place
on your T-shirt.

Use various colors to create muti-dimensional effect.

You can arrange circles in whatever shape you would like

(ie. a heart, tuxedo effect, or straight down the middle).

My next project with one of these fluffy, messy flowers....

Something old...Something new... (Edition 2)

As I decorate my new home,

I realize I have a LOT of wall space to cover.

I'm trying to take old decor

and give it a mini-makeover.This cute cherry corkboard was hand painted

by my sister-in-law for a wedding gift.

Loved it and still do...

but there's no room for cherries anymore.

So...I took an old Norman Rockwell calendar

that I got for free in 2007

and hung onto it for a few years.

It has some classic pictures

that will never get out-of-date!

I put a few cute ones together

and stapeled them onto the cork board.

Then sanded the black painted frame

to match the vintage look of the pics.

It matched pretty well,

if I might say so myself...

and voila!
A cute classic picture to fill
one of the blank, white walls in my
sewing room!!!
No theme required for this room...
all is fair game!
So....

go save your calendars from 2009, people!
Go recycle and re-use
and save some dough!

Where Two or More are Gathered...

It has been my DREAM

to have a home that is big enough to

have families, groups,

children, and multiple people at one time over.

I just moved into a home that is already

allowing me to fulfill that dream.

My Home Group has been praying for

me and my family for three years now...
they have been faithful to pray us through many seasons
in our lives...
a new home being one of them.

We had them all over for a
Home Group night
and I just about cried because of how incredibly blessed
I felt in seeing God's faithfulness,
and the amazing community around my family.

I am so thankful for this opportunity
to walk my life out with this group...
and ALL our friends...
who have stood by us...
and love us (anyway)
in the good
and the bad.

Adventures in Babysitting

We were blessed

yesterday to have sweet Baby Alyssa

for the day.

It's all in the expression...

"Simon...the tamborine is starting to bug..." Simon seriously says he's going to "marry her."

I promise that I didn't put that in his head!

He's just crazy about her...

and most babies that he lays his eyes on!!

"Hmmm...I'm not sure about you, kid...

you're kinda invading my space!"

"WHACK!"
"I love you anyway, sweet girl!"

"Okay...as long as you give me my bottle...

I'm good."

LOVE

I LOVE this KID!

And I missed him too,

but he was in good hands while we were away:) Dave and I went to our Marriage Retreat

in Lake Arrowhead this past weekend.

A MUCH needed time away

with my adoring, devoted, loving, understanding,

hard-working, tender, patient,

and amazing husband.

I learned a few things...

one being is that LIFE

goes SO quick...

faster than you can blink!

The wiser and more experienced couples emparted

words of encouragement to

CHERISH,

EMBRACE,

and ENJOY

EVERY

SINGLE MOMENT!

Man...I've got a LOT to learn about life...

but I'm going to start with this lesson...

one day at a time.

Pinching pennies...

I try to save a few bucks where I can

as I am settling into the new home.

I needed to put shower curtains up in my bathroom,

but I didn't have the rings to connect them.I took some cute ribbon ($1 at Target),

cut strips (about 6 inches long)...
tied a knot,
and slipped the shower rod through.

Cute...
and cheap!

Sweet Potato Pancakes

Thank goodness for Trader Joes!

As you know, Simon has food allergies,

so my cookin is pretty creative.

Although Trader Joes has been coming up with

fab food for food-allergy peeps!

This is Simon's favorite "anytime food,"

PANCAKES!Simon loves to help.

Okay...with moving,
I haven't been able to grocery shop for a few weeks.
I usually put in some type of veggie or fruit in his pancakes
to keep it extra healthy...
zuchinni, blueberries,
carrots, banana,
apples...
The only thing I had in my fridge was a
half of a sweet potato!
I know...I know...
it could have been more delicious with one of those foods,
but Simon didn't care!


He made 'em,
and ate 'em!

My favorite nooks...

I am reminded of sweet memories

of my loved ones

and all the treasures they cherished.

I love them

and wouldn't want my home any other way!
